If I could decide on what to spend Earth's entire science funds for a year?

Warp engines? Nuclear fusion? Carbon nanotubes?
No, of course not.

Kinja'd!!!

Chocolate made vegetables, that grow that way, obviously.

Yeah, I know it's not possible, but still.

this way more than the chocolate veggies. I happen to enjoy veggies they are. but I do love chocolate milk. so why not have it come fresh, sweet and yummy from the souce! Or maybe we can have neapolitan cows, one two chocolate udders one strawberry and one vanilla!

In all seriousness, I would fund food and water science. Being able to take water from the ocean to drink, desalination, is very important. And I also think that due to the fact a lot of food is grown on oil-based fertilizers means that there might be problems later on. I would like to see us focus on that for a year to really help out and things.

I'd be spending the Earth's entire war budget on that, actually.

If you can make insulin in cow milk (Thanks Science!), why haven't the people who make synthetic cannabinoids stuck the gene into cows? THC absorbs into fat, it's perfect!
And you could have chocolate milk too...

Too temperamental and not easily mass produced, this is much more practical. Plus you have the added benefit of spaceflight and it's so easy to fly a kid can do it.

With all the weird things that are possible now, why say this particular thing would not be possible?

To make chocolate you mix milk with a couple of things that come from plants. So why not have them grow on other plants?

I have to think that most vegetables with added chocolate would not taste too good. You would have to add chocolate properties to something that doesn't already have a strong flavor of it's own. The best mix would probably be the chocolate banana and such that we already mix together on purpose, or maybe the chocolate potato. But really how many of us need to add more bananas and potatoes to our diet?

Maybe the chocolate flavored squash would work, or some root vegetable like a carrot with a milder taste? Beets already have a lot of sugar and better color, but beets just have too strong a taste to work with chocolate. I'm thinking maybe parsnip, but really I haven't had enough parsnips to know for sure.

Either nuclear fusion or desalination, like someone else mentioned.

Choc veggies wouldn't be in my top 10, but they'd be at the top of the Next 10.
